Working in ditty mode with these little pieces of artwork as I attempt to merge ACEO and simple collage. Using stickers that are turned into flowers. Hanging on to the last of the warm days and dreaming of a garden full of flowers and colour again for next year. #aceo #aceocard #floral #collage #art

The first time I’ve had chance to myself since the beginning of the school holidays and I’ve managed to catch a creative breath. Signed up to @thepatternsocial’s new free course ‘Join The Dots’ and it’s fab. 🤩 This is my first attempt at making a dotty, analogue pattern, though flowers have made their way in. 🥰 Interesting to see how I’ve attempted folk style too. I’ve really enjoyed this exercise and hopefully it won’t be too long before I can have a play with the dots again. Go check out the course, if you get chance. #surfacepatterndesign #surfacepatterncommunity #dots #circles

Back to creating patterns to cheer me up. It’s been an exhausting few weeks on T1D for my DD 😴. Designing a pattern gives me a little bit of respite and I like to think, make the world a bit of a brighter place. Always seem to come back to these shapes and colours. Maybe it’s a comfort blanket. #surfacepatterndesign #folkartinspired #blues

Nearing the end of the six weeks holidays and it has flown by. It’s times like this that my art/creative practice goes out of the window. I usually feel frustrated at not having the time to be creative, but this summer? It has been a welcome breather. I realised that it is good to have had time away from my practice. No pressure to make, deliver or plan towards anything. The headspace means I’m starting to look forward to September and getting started again. Bits of ideas are popping up here and there, like this mini flower collage (it’s A6 notebook size) I made last night. It’s in no way perfect, but it made me happy to be able to cut and stick card of the paper. To play, essentially. How many of us get the chance up as adults? To do something without an expected outcome or need to monetise our creations. Maybe we need more creative playtime as grown-ups. Anyway, enough of my ramblings. I hope you are all well. 💖☺️🌈🎨👩‍🎨

Pleased as punch to have sold my first #aceocard on eBay this week. 🎉🥳💖☺️ I had set and forgot about them a while ago and was feeling a bit disheartened with the lack of interest. I was over the moon when I received the email to say a bid had been made. Thanks to the person who bought it, you have made my day! Has been the sign I needed to keep going. Go have a nosey if you’d like one for yourself. Link in bio ☺️🙏💖

Hello! Not much chance to be creative this summer

Hello! Not much chance to be creative this summer - the six weeks holidays are flying by! 💨🏃‍♀️ Managed to sit down with the Spirograph kit last night and cut out the shapes made. They’ll be good to use on another project, I’m sure. DD has suggested making them into stickers. Does anyone know how to do this or have a suggestion of how to make them with your own printer? I don’t have Cricut. I’m thinking they’d go well in collaging too. #spirograph #spirographart #blackink #creative

Colour, pattern and art heaven today @pparkmuseum

Colour, pattern and art heaven today @pparkmuseum in Stockton-on-Tees. The Matisse ‘Drawing with Scissors’ exhibition was bursting with energy and colour. I also found a William Morris ‘Pimpernel’ wallpaper print in the main museum 🤩. The shop on the cobbled, Victorian street, housed some gorgeous vintage fabrics. It’s the first time we’ve visited since the new entrance, and it’s great. Loved the walled gardens too. Well worth a visit. Lots of inspiration. #matisse #matissedrawingwithscissors #stockton #prestonparkmuseum

We’ve hit the ground running with the six weeks holidays, so not much chance to be creative lately. Managed to grab a couple of hours yesterday and designed some new colouring sheets 🤩. These will be digital downloads, perfect for printing off and taking on your holidays or chilling out with your family. Follow along to find out when they are available. #creativelife #design #colouringforadults #colouringsheets 🌈✏️💖📚☺️

You know when you start arting, but you’re shattered, and what you make really doesn’t resonate or you end up not happy with it? Had that yesterday trying to make some new #ACEO cards. Realised it’s because I’m so ready for the six weeks holidays. Hopefully will have more energy soon. #creativelife

A little lavender and sweetpea bouquet from the flowers the garden. They smell amazing. 🤩🌸 I used to imagine having flowers on my desk while I was being creative and working. Feels a bit more special to have grown them myself. 🥰 Two more sleeps, and we’ll be starting the summer holidays. Cannot wait for the chance to recharge our batteries. #sweetpeas #lavender #deskflowers #flowersfromthegarden #creative

Watched @melrye’s ‘Drawing with Scissors’ short online course over the weekend and loved it. Here’s my first attempt a #modernfolkcollage with some collage paper I found. I haven’t had the chance to finish it yet, but I can see so many possibilities with this type of art for my own practice and making patterns. 🤩💖#learnwithmelrye - made it super easy to understand as well. #collage #floralcollage #creative

Taking a Posca brush pen to a ballpoint ink SpiroArt drawing wasn’t the medium mash-up I planned, but what a fab outcome. 🤩 Which of these drawings are your favourite? Personally, I prefer number 3. Let me know in the comments which is yours, and if you’d like me to make a Spiro x Doodle video too. ☺️💖 #spirograph #spiroart #flowerdoodles #creative

Blooming heck, it’s a bit warm, isn’t it!? 🥵 A gorgeous day here in the North East, though took some time to crack open the Spirograph kit to make some Spiro Art while staying out of the hottest part of the day. #spiroart #spirograph #creative #doodles

I’m one lucky birthday lady today 🥰🎉 Hubby and DD

I’m one lucky birthday lady today 🥰🎉 Hubby and DD got me these fabulous #surfacepatterndesign related books. Paint! Pattern! Print! The Textiles of Susan Collier and Sarah Campbell (hoping to see their exhibition at Fashion and Textile Museum 🤞🏻), Hand-Painted Textiles by Sarah Campbell, and Liberty - The History by Marie-Therese Rieber. Lots of inspiration for my own pattern practice. I’ve not tried painting on fabric, I think since I took my GCSE’s in the 90s (showing my age! 😂). Would love to try again. Anyway, that’s my evening sorted. 😅💖🥳

Took 10 mins for myself before heading out for trip with the family, or as I like to call those small moments of creativity - ‘A Ditty Pause’. Here I’ve ‘painted’ an #aceo with Washi Tape. It make a pretty bookmark. 💖🥰 #aceocard #bookmark #quirky #dittypause

I’ve been feeling a bit glum with not selling any ACEOs and colouring books. There’s more marketing to be done, for sure, but I have to remember to pace myself too. Bringing two product ideas to fruition has taken a fair bit out of me, though I’m glad they are helping to build my stamina back up again. All I wanted to do this morning was curl back under the duvet, but the gorgeous Print and Pattern Nature book by Bowie Style of the Print and Pattern caught my eye on the bookshelf. Published in 2017, it was lovely to see some of the surface designers and illustrators that are still going strong today. The colourful designs and prints really cheered me up too, and inspired me to make my own colourful doodles. 🌻🌼🌸🪻🌷🍃 #surfacepatterndesigncommunity #surfacepatterndesigner #printpattern #printpatternnature

Back to doodling today after setting up all the #ACEOs on eBay. Super tired, so haven’t had much energy to be productive. The joys of having variable energy levels, hey.
